The Mayor of Olula del Río, Antonio Martínez Pascual, was re-elected as head of the Almanzora Levante Vélez Consortium, at the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Board of this body held this Thursday morning in Albox.
Martínez Pascual officially begins his fourth term of office after receiving the unanimous support of the members of this body which brings together the 45 municipalities of the regions of Almanzora, Levante and Los Vélez.
The president thanked those present for their trust, who far from the political confrontation of other times, have now decided by 1623 votes – no votes against and no abstentions – “to support a management that looks after everyone, that works very hard and that has managed to reduce a debt that in 2011 was 24 million euros and is now zero. Having the support of all is synonymous with that things are being done well,” said Pascual in his formal inauguration speech.
The vice-presidency of the Consortium, went to the mayoress of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso, who obtained the same number of votes in favour as the members of the Executive Council, which will be made up of the president, the vice-president, the provincial council and the towns of Huércal Overa, Tíjola, Vélez Rubio, Vera, Mojácar and Cuevas del Almanzora.
