The mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mari Ángeles Túnez, is being investigated for an alleged crime of administrative malfeasance in relation to the alleged irregularities uncovered around a large pig farm located in the area of El Campillo. The Court of First Instance and Investigation number 7 of Lorca has summoned the councillor to testify, as an investigator, on 16 October.
On the same day, the former councillor of agriculture and livestock of Puerto Lumbreras, Cesar Gázquez Díaz, is also summoned to testify as an investigated person. The judge, in an order to which LA VERDAD has had access, summons both as investigated and orders the parties to report on the possible appearance of the Consistory lumbrerense in the case.
The alleged irregularities around which this investigation revolves and which will end up bringing Tunisia before the judge were denounced by Ecologists in Action. In a report, the investigators of the Seprona of the Guardia Civil conclude that the extension works carried out on the farm were carried out without a planning permission. In addition, the agents point out that the facilities have six buildings and that only two of them are registered in the regional register of pig farms (REGA).
In this sense, the document, sent to the court, draws attention to the fact that «an activity is being carried out without an activity licence updated to the substantial modification made to the livestock farm». The Seprona officers also point out that the reform of the slurry ponds has been carried out by occupying the protection zones of the public watercourse, without authorisation from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS). In addition, according to the report of the Guardía Civil, a water reservoir has been built in these facilities without having authorisation to do so. Tunis must clarify before the investigating magistrate the extent of his knowledge of these alleged irregularities.
