The secretary general of the Andalusian socialists, Juan Espadas, on his visit to the province of Almeria on what he has called «the water route», made some statements that have not gone down well in the Andalusian executive, as he understands that the leader of the socialists «in his desperation to cover up the mismanagement of President Pedro Sánchez, has taken the path of deceit, lies and idleness».
Espadas made reference to the project of «high supply in the Almanzora, which was decided in 2020 and here we are, ending in 2023, and we still do not even know if the project to carry it out has been completed».
The Territorial Delegate for Agriculture, Antonio Mena, was quick to respond to this statement, surprised because «Mr Espadas, or some of the people who met with him, should know that in January this year the works consisting of the improvement of the pumping stations and their improved energy efficiency were inaugurated, actions that correspond to the first phase of the project that will guarantee the supply to all the municipalities of the Almanzora. The amount is 6.5 million euros, executed by emergency, where the municipalities of Albox and Olula del Rio are the first beneficiaries.
Mena explained that the second phase includes the repair of the Cuevas de Almanzora water treatment plant, which serves the whole of the Almanzora Valley, and the pipelines that will carry water to Suflí, which will be put out to tender before the end of the year; both works are included in the third drought decree.
in the third drought decree.
Finally, the delegate assured that the third phase is already well advanced and that we will soon be able to present the investments included in it.
The delegate of Agriculture, who lives in Albox, has regretted «the little knowledge that Espadas has of the province of Almeria where, thanks to the government of Juanma Moreno, all the municipal purification projects recognised as being of regional interest in 2010 are underway». Some projects, he stressed, «financed with the water canon that the socialist government was not able to spend, even though it had the money».
