The Guardia Civil de la Comandancia de Almería has arrested a 25 year old man as the alleged perpetrator of a burglary and a robbery committed in a works and service building of the Town Hall of Cuevas del Almanzora. The arrest of the individual and the recovery of the majority of the stolen goods took place just three hours after he had committed the acts.
This arrest is part of the activities carried out by the Guardia Civil in the province of Almeria during the citizen security services to prevent and avoid robberies of all kinds and to provide a rapid response.
The Guardia Civil began the investigation at 8 o’clock in the morning of 1 September, when they learned, following a complaint, of the commission of a burglary in a warehouse of works and services of the City Council of Cuevas del Almanzora, located within an enclosure belonging to the consistory in an industrial estate of the aforementioned locality.
The perpetrator gained access to the premises by forcing the padlock on the entrance door. Once inside, he located a scaffolding and moved it to the wall of the building he wanted to enter. He positioned it near an upper window and used it to break it to gain access to the interior. Once in the warehouse, he stole two vans, as well as numerous high-value building materials (light generators, hammer drills, radial drills, grinders…) and 280 kilograms of copper cable valued at around 44,000 euros.
The agents in charge of the investigation carried out an ocular inspection of the place of the facts and obtained important evidence for the clarification of the facts. After carrying out a detailed study and analysing the data using technological resources, they were able to focus their investigations, which allowed them to locate and recover one of the two stolen vehicles, the interior of which was empty.
During the investigation, the Guardia Civil gathered valuable information and initiated various steps to locate the perpetrators of the robbery and recover the rest of the stolen property. The agents were able to identify M.P. as the alleged perpetrator of the robbery and managed to find out that all the stolen material could be found in the house where this individual resided with his wife and a minor son.
At 10 o’clock in the morning of the same day, barely three hours after the events took place, the Guardia Civil officers, in a joint action with the Local Police of Cuevas del Almanzora, proceeded to inspect the suspect’s home, located in a fenced property. Inside this enclosure, the agents found a kennel guarded by two potentially dangerous dogs, inside which they located and seized all the materials that had been stolen.
After being identified and with the data obtained from the ocular inspection, the agents proceeded to the arrest of this individual, a 25 year old male, as the author of a crime of theft with force in things and another with scaling. The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority in the town of Vera, Almeria. The operation remains open in the hope that further arrests can be made and that the second of the two stolen vehicles can be recovered.
