– CARTAGENA CITY COUNCIL
The municipal water service of Cartagena «will be placed in the coming months among the most modern, digital and efficient in Spain after having won eight million European euros for a project that will digitise about 70 percent of domestic meters, advance in cybersecurity and improve the monitoring of the sewerage and rainwater network,» according to the mayor, Noelia Arroyo.
The project ‘Cartagena Agua Digital Water’, developed by the water concessionaire Hidrogea, has been the only one in the region that has obtained European funds for the PERTE Water Next Generation funds and awarded by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, and stresses that against the 30 resolutions of grants awarded, Cartagena gets the third largest amount granted.
The project will give a major boost to remote metering and will provide thousands of data on supply and consumption, which will allow better decisions to be taken in real time on a day-to-day basis and during episodes of drought and droughts, which are becoming increasingly frequent at certain times of the year.

Thanks to this award, sensorisation, monitoring and digitalisation of the drinking water supply and treatment infrastructures throughout the municipality will be increased.
MORE SAFETY
Its objective is to make further progress in the modernisation and digitalisation of the service, an objective that was set in motion several years ago with the creation of Dinapsis, a water efficiency and climate change centre, from which the entire water cycle is controlled digitally.
Cartagena Agua Digital’ is being developed through the digitalisation of the entire urban water cycle, from catchment and distribution to the sewerage and purification network, with the aim of improving the quality of the service and increasing safety. Specifically, the project will develop systems that guarantee cybersecurity to protect one of the most sensitive and essential services.
