Domingo Trabalón presents balance of the first 130 days of municipal management

The mayor of Zurgena explained the situation of the City Council, objectives and projects.

The mayor of Zurgena, Domingo Trabalón, accompanied by councilors from the government team, took stock of his first 130 days of municipal management, in which he explained how the municipality is being activated, “a municipality that we find with more than 550,000 euros of debt, the electricity was not paid and with the water company, Galasa, a payment plan had to be made to cover 135,000 euros.”

Trabalón explained that «the Government team is fighting to activate Zurgena, so that the economic movement returns to the municipality, to businesses, companies and all Zurgeneros.»

Zurgena is increasingly active because it is closer to other administrations, according to Trabalón, “it is necessary to go hand in hand with the Provincial Council of Almería and the Junta de Andalucía so that investments are made in the municipality. Many necessary infrastructures require financial support from higher administrations, because the municipal budget is small for everything that is needed.”

“I firmly believe that we must maintain fluid relations with other administrations for our municipality to develop, therefore, since I have been mayor I have had almost 60 meetings with the President of the Provincial Council of Almería, Councilors and Delegates of the Junta de Andalucía, Deputies Provincial, Regional, technicians and general directors, who have known first-hand what infrastructures and projects are necessary for our people.”

The first Zurgena mayor continued explaining that “today Zurgena has a government team that works tirelessly for its neighbors, with effort and planning, therefore, we have established a priority plan to focus on what is truly important: the new Los Llanos del Puente Bridge. Peral, Palacés Rotunda, the museum development of the Railway Train, the Industrial Estate or the Day Center for seniors, among others.”

Finally, Trabalón highlighted that the restoration works of the Clock and Flour Mill are at a very good level of execution and that on the horizon they are already fighting to improve the municipality’s sanitation network, to avoid losses and the continuous outages that it generates. Just as they are working to achieve a cultural explosion with activities such as Zurgena de Cine, highlighting local artists such as Ginés Parra and achieving important projects with European funds to provide the municipality with new sports and green spaces.
