The municipalities of Purchena and Suflí have ‘signed up’ to solar self-consumption thanks to the Provincial Council of Almeria and the DUS 5000 Plan, within the framework of the Regeneration and Demographic Challenge Programme of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Specifically, the actions contemplated under this measure are aligned with the European and national regulatory framework to promote the use of energy from renewable sources. The aim is to provide municipal buildings with photovoltaic energy in the form of self-consumption with surplus connection to the grid and with or without accumulation systems to supply 100% renewable energy.
In the case of Purchena, this will be done through five actions that include the following municipal buildings or infrastructures:
Pavilion
Town Hall
San Ginés School
Municipal Nursery
Los Carmenes Centre
In the case of Suflí, this will be done through eight solar energy actions and one wind energy action to be carried out in the following municipal buildings or infrastructures:
Repeater (Wind)
Municipal Swimming Pool
Library – Scenic Space
TV Repeater
Schools
Doctor’s surgery
Youth House
Water supply well
Kiosk Swimming pool – Warehouse – Warehouse
In the case of Purchena, the works will be co-financed by the DUS 5000 Programme (65.44%) and the Provincial Council, which will contribute the rest of the total budget: 158,150 €. While in Suflí the Provincial Council will contribute more (53.34%) than the DUS 5000 Programme (46.66%): 126,312 €.
The Provincial Councillor for Development, Antonio J. Rodríguez, explained the importance of this Investment Programme in promoting sustainability and renewable energies in rural areas: «These projects are just getting underway and we have a deadline of one year for them to be fully implemented, generating significant energy savings for the local councils. These savings will result in more investment and well-being for the municipalities».
The Mayor of Purchena highlighted the importance of this aid, which will make municipal facilities more sustainable and at the same time encourage municipal savings in order to increase investment.
