National Police agents have arrested a 44-year-old woman of Spanish nationality, a resident of Lorca, for allegedly tying her dog to a tree where it ended up dying.

The events took place following a complaint filed with the Lorca Local Police in mid-October, where the existence of a dog tied to a tree that appeared to be dead in Cañada Morales was reported.

Upon his arrival, the agents verified this, having been tied with a rope whose length hardly prevented the dog from lying on the ground, presenting a deplorable physical condition, with clear signs of malnutrition and dirt.

The owner, who was located near the scene, was told not to handle the animal’s body until the arrival of the body collection company. An indication that she ignored, since upon the arrival of the company’s personnel, the dog’s body had been thrown into the containers.

The investigation carried out to clarify the facts was undertaken by specialized agents of the National Police, who confirmed that the dog was already found at the end of September abandoned in a city park, in a terrible physical condition with clear signs of malnutrition. .

At that moment he was able to be rescued by an animal shelter, where, after assisting him, he was identified thanks to the chip he carried and thus able to locate his owner, who had not reported his loss or theft. Even so, he showed up at the shelter to pick up the animal and take it away.

The agents determined the person responsible for what happened to the now detained woman, who was placed at the disposal of the acting Court of Guardia de Lorca so that the appropriate precautionary measures could be adopted. She is charged with an alleged crime of animal abuse, considering her responsible for abandoning a dog on her property tied to a tree that led to the dog’s death.
