A resident of Cantoria investigated for using false number plates

According to the Guardia Civil, the suspect, while carrying out the registration procedures for some of the cars, was putting plates on them from another car he owned, which appeared to have been stolen.

On 27th October, agents from the Traffic Detachment of Vera, in collaboration with the Local Police of Cantoria, investigated a resident of this town as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of falsification of public documents, by replacing the number plates of two vehicles with others that belonged to a car he owned and which was shown to have been stolen.

Following the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was carrying out the procedures for the registration in Spain of vehicles coming from countries such as the United Kingdom and Holland, although, while the vehicles were in his possession, he replaced the number plates of another vehicle he owned which was shown as stolen, using them without the authorisation of their owners, while he was completing the said procedure.

The proceedings will be handed over to the Courts of Huércal Overa.

The perpetrator could face a prison sentence of six months to three years and a fine of six to twelve months.
