The II Local Belenes de Cartagena Contest, promoted by the Department of Culture, opens the registration period until December 10. Those interested must submit the request in the General Registry of the City Council, through the registration form attached to the bases, which can be consulted on the municipal website.

The delegate councilor for Culture, Ignacio Jáudenes, presented the contest on Tuesday, together with the president of the Cartagena Nativity Scene Association, Antonio Ferrer.

“Each of us has a favorite scene from Bethlehem. For some it is the birth, for others the annunciation, the appearance to the shepherds, the adoration of the Kings, the flight to Egypt or even the slaughter of the innocent. That is the essence and customs that we seek to protect and extol, “said the mayor.

A municipal contest will recognize the Births of individuals, schools and entities with prizes of 300, 200 and 100 euros.

With this initiative, in which all registered residents can participate, as well as residents, associations, parishes, brotherhoods or educational centers of the municipal area, you can qualify for an award in three categories: Belén Particulares, Belén Centros Escolares and Belén de Entidades.

There will be three prizes per category, a first prize valued at 300 euros, a second in 200 and a third prize at 100 euros, plus a diploma for all of them, to be awarded in January 2024.

The nativity scenes must contain a minimum of three passages, the birth scene being mandatory.

Once the application period has ended, the jury, which will be made up of municipal technicians and the Belenista associations of Cartagena, will visit the participating Belenes and their ruling will be made public before January 6.

Showcase contest
Likewise, the Cartagena City Council, through the Department of Commerce, will also open the term on November 27 for merchants to sign up for the Christmas storefront contest. The last day to do so will be December 11 and the windows must be decorated until January 6. All businesses in the municipality that have a sales area of less than 300 square meters may participate, except for furniture stores, which are not limited.

The best showcase will receive as a prize an advertising campaign valued at one thousand euros. The second best will get an advertorial, which will be broadcast in Onda Cero Cartagena. And the third, advertising in the digital newspaper Cartagena de Hoy. The contest also has the support of the Autonomous Community. With these awards, the Cartagena City Council seeks to promote and stimulate small businesses, as well as create a more festive atmosphere that attracts customers.

Requests to participate can be submitted both in person at the San Miguel administrative building or at the Cartagena City Council electronic headquarters.
