San Javier presents its document San Javier Urban Agenda 2030 with a participatory party

The document, which was presented in the Plaza de España, consists of ten general axes, with their challenges and actions, and has been based on citizen participation.

The document that launches the San Javier Urban Agenda 20230 was presented during a festive event held in the Plaza de España, San Javier, which ended three months of preliminary work in which citizen participation has been highlighted. The councillor for Finance, Héctor Verdú, explained that the aim so far has been to obtain a diagnosis that reflects the needs of the municipality in order to design a series of responses in line with the Sustainable Development Goals set out in Agenda 20230. Verdú highlighted the participation of citizens in this process through surveys carried out at the weekly markets, in the sports centre, meetings with the social fabric of the municipality and at various large-scale events.

The document, which was presented by a representative of the consultancy firm in charge of the work, includes 10 general axes that address issues such as territorial organisation, climate change, transport, social cohesion, the economy, housing, technology and citizen participation, among others. Each of the axes includes a series of challenges and specific measures to achieve them, including the approval of the PGOU, coordination between administrations to address the major challenges facing the Mar Menor and a network connecting the territory with footpaths. It also includes measures for the recovery of historical heritage, and a programme to reinforce street and asphalt cleaning and maintenance, among others, in the face of the challenge of improving the conditions of urban areas.

Among the measures included in the document, which will remain in force until 2030, is a strategy against the risk of flooding and a plan for the incorporation of natural shadows in urban environments. In terms of energy, the incorporation of electric vehicles into the municipal fleet is mentioned, among other things. In environmental matters, the implementation of the fifth container and a municipal circular economy strategy are included. The improvement of the transport service throughout the municipality is another of the central themes of the document, which includes a battery of social measures and measures to promote the economy and employment, such as boosting sport and the nautical economy, promoting a hub of innovation in dual technology, the hotel school, and the training programme for the aeronautical industry and associated equipment. Activating public housing and social housing are other of the many measures that can be pursued in the following years. At the same event, the Mayor, José Miguel Luengo presented the diplomas to the people who have participated in the training that has been developed in the previous three months of work in relation to the 2030 Agenda and closed a time capsule with different elements of the present to record the future of the current moment in relation to the San Javier 2030 Agenda. Following the trail of citizen participation, the event open to all citizens, was attended by groups such as volunteers from Bando del Tiempo, and associations such as Rafa Puede, which presented a play of inclusive theatre, scheduled within the commemorative events of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, as a collective mural that was also exposed in the same act in which coffee and sweets were served among the attendees who ended with a concert of music with the group Musica2.
