Provincial Council and Town Hall present the programme for ‘Christmas in Purchena’.

The municipality will offer a variety of more than 15 activities on these special dates.

The Provincial Council of Almeria and Purchena Town Council have presented the ‘Christmas in Purchena’ programme. With these activities, the municipality of Purchena will have a varied leisure offer with a sports and cultural programme.

The Deputy for Sport, Healthy Living and Youth, José Antonio García, and the Deputy Mayor of Purchena, Joaquín Navío, presented the programme, which starts on 5 December with the Christmas switch-on. Although it has a wide variety of activities, among its program highlights the I Carrera del Pavo, where 150 and 200 cyclists from different parts of Andalusia and Murcia will perform an urban race and the little ones will have their children’s race.

Also noteworthy is the Nativity Scene that will be installed over 30 square metres in charge of the nativity scene maker Carlos Moreno and the Children’s New Year’s Eve with chimes for the little ones, music and carols.

The sports deputy pointed out that the “programme begins on 5 December and ends on 5 January with the Three Kings parade. It has an important sports programme with the Turkey Race and the San Silvestre, as well as activities for children with the festival of games and cultural activities with cinema and music”.

“I recommend all the people of Almeria to visit Purchena, not only for many reasons, but also so that they can visit the spectacular nativity scene that will be installed by the nativity scene artist Carlos Moreno,” added José Antonio García.

For his part, the Deputy Mayor of Purchena has detailed the programme in more depth: “It is a set of different activities and a Christmas designed for all audiences, both adults and children, and to meet two objectives”.

“There was not enough programming, and so we have created more than fifteen activities so that Purchena residents can stay in Purchena enjoying these Christmas activities and also to promote the municipality with unique activities to attract residents from other municipalities,” said Joaquín Navío.

These activities, which begin with the Christmas switch-on, will continue with the inauguration of the Nativity Scene, the chocolate workshop, the Christmas market, the senior citizens’ dance, the 1st turkey race, the Christmas concert, cinema, games festival, the San Silvestre, the children’s New Year’s Eve, an indoor football tournament and the Three Kings’ Cavalcade.
