Magic Christmas in Albox

The Monumental Nativity Scene returns with the name of Enrique Miras and the Gastronomic Market ‘Albox con mucho gusto’ will be held on the 16th of December.

Christmas is undoubtedly the best time for the families of the municipality to enjoy these special dates, as well as an opportunity for the local commerce and hospitality industry. For this reason, the Albox Town Hall has made an effort to put together a programme that will energise the cultural life of the municipality over the coming weeks.

This Monday the government team presented the Christmas programme. An agenda which highlights the return of the Monumental Nativity Scene that returns after seven years, and with the name of one of its supporters ‘Enrique Miras’. The municipal Monumental Nativity Scene will be inaugurated on Monday 11 December in a place set up in the Barrio de La Loma, next to the Plaza San Francisco.

On Friday 15th December a children’s Gymkana will be held in the Plaza Mayor. And on Saturday 16 December there will be one of the most outstanding novelties of the fiestas. This is a gastronomic market ‘Albox con mucho gusto’ which is born with the firm intention of promoting the gastronomic products of Albox and the Almanzora region. In the Plaza San Francisco and with the support of the Junta de Andalucía and Gusto del Sur, the locals will be able to buy all kinds of gourmet products such as sweets, wines, beers, sausages, chocolates, honey, ham, oil and a long list of products made in the area and the best choice to put on the table this Christmas.

An event that celebrates its first edition and that in parallel will feature children’s workshops, exhibitions, live music, midday fair or royal mailbox.

On the same Saturday, the highlight of the programme is ‘Help a Beatles Tribute’. One of the best tributes in the world in homage to The Beatles, which comes to Spain with two exclusive concerts, one of them in Albox.

Scape Room “Conoce tu pueblo” on Friday 22nd December and the Saturday before Christmas Eve the first ‘Tardeo por Navidad’ with Zambomba flamenca and DJ’s in the Plaza Mayor. This activity will be repeated on the Saturday before New Year’s Eve, but in this case in the neighbourhood of La Loma and specifically in the Plaza San Francisco.

During the week different children’s workshops have been organised both in the Plaza Mayor and in the Plaza San Franciscosobe Christmas soaps, slime, candles, Geode crystals or badges.

On Sunday 24 December, the children’s theatre ‘Ovejita que vino a cenar’ and a visit from Santa Claus are scheduled in the Plaza Mayor.

On Sunday 31st December ‘Mañana Vieja y Campanadas infantiles’ in the Plaza de San Francisco and the children’s theatre ‘Caperucita de colores’ in the Plaza San Francisco.

On Tuesday 2 January, a children’s theatre is again scheduled for the Plaza Mayor under the title ‘Fermín y los 3 Reyes Magos’ (Fermín and the Three Wise Men).

And the Christmas programme will close with the Three Wise Men Parade with a new route that will leave from the Velázquez School and pass through the San Juan neighbourhood. It will finish on Avenida Pío XII, right in the Plaza José Miras Carrasco, the place where their Majesties will deliver gifts to the children of the municipality of Albox. “We want this Christmas to be magical. We are committed to our traditions with the return of the Monumental Nativity Scene which will bear the name of Enrique Miras. The Gastronomic Market with which we support businesses. In short, we want children, young and not so young, to have a place in the activities. I hope it will be a very special Christmas for all the people of Alboja” said the Mayoress, María del Mar Alfonso, during the presentation.
