The president of the Provincial Council extols “Almeria’s pride” in his Christmas greeting

In his Christmas message, the president emphasises “the passion for our identity and all that unites us”.

The president of the Provincial Council of Almeria, Javier A. García, has congratulated Christmas and the new year to all the people of Almeria through an emotional video recorded in different enclaves of the municipality of Níjar. The president’s message extols the values of the Almerian character and the pride he feels for the province of Almeria.

The Ángel y Loli pottery, where the artisan tradition of several generations of the potter’s trade, so closely linked to the province of Almería, is kept alive, and El Portillo, a beautiful corner of the old town of Níjar decorated with Christmas motifs and other local crafts such as pottery and esparto grass, have been the places from which the president shares his Christmas message with all the citizens.

In the video Javier A. García takes stock of the transcendental 2023 for Almería, a year in which, as he says, “the province continues to be a benchmark as a source of wealth and employment. We have recovered tourism in ‘Costa de Almería’ with new routes to important countries such as France and Germany. We have regained population and very soon we will be more than 750,000 Almerians, which shows the land of opportunities and prosperity that we have built together.

In this sense, the president emphasises that “working as a team we turn adversity into opportunity based on effort, sacrifice, perseverance and talent. There are no magic formulas, only work and passion for Almería. These are the values that our elders have taught us and that we pass on to our children”.

In this way, the provincial president shows the commitment of the Diputación de Almería to “continue promoting in 2024 everything that defines us, our identity and what makes us unique. Defending and spreading our roots, customs, traditions, crafts, gastronomy…, or the genuine way we have of seeing life. By extolling what we are and the deep pride we feel for being from Almería…….. And we are going to travel this road ahead of us together”.

Along these lines, García highlighted the actions aimed at recovering Almeria’s heritage, so that there is not a single village in the province without a bar or a shop, and so that water continues to be the lifeblood of the land, being cared for to the last drop “as we Almerians have always done”.

Finally, the president of the Provincial Council said goodbye, recalling that “the best is yet to come and we will live it as protagonists of our history, the history of Almería…, the best land in the world. It is a time for peace and love and to celebrate all that unites us. I hope that this Christmas, happiness reigns in all Almeria’s homes and that you will enjoy these dates so dear to you, together with your loved ones. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2024”.
