Renting of subsidised housing in Bayarque, Sierro and Albox

The Provincial Council of Almeria continues its commitment to the fight against depopulation with the ‘fine-tuning’ of public housing developments and the promotion of rent-to-own of subsidised housing that is still vacant. This has been confirmed by the provincial deputy for Housing, Esther Álvarez Cappa, who recalled how in the last quarter three contracts for rent to buy housing in the municipalities of Bayarque, Sierro and Albox have been signed.

The Provincial Council signs the rental contract with option to buy with the beneficiary families.

In this sense, Esther Álvarez Cappa has assured that these homes are one of the main battering rams against depopulation that the Provincial Council of Almeria has: «The subsidised housing of the Provincial Council of Almeria is designed to meet a clear objective: the fight against the depopulation of the villages in the interior of our province».

Likewise, the provincial deputy announced the main investments that are going to be carried out to reinforce the quality and services offered by these homes to their tenants and users. Among the actions planned for the coming months are the painting of the façades of the 13 VPOS development in the municipality of Abla, which was affected by the Calima; the repair of the interior of several homes in Gádor, as well as the refurbishment of other homes that are rented with an option to buy in Bayarque.

During 2023 the Provincial Council of Almeria has made available to the people of Almeria several homes for rent to buy. The beneficiary municipalities have been mainly Albox, Taberno, Sierro, Gádor, Chercos, Abla and Bayarque. It should be remembered that the Provincial Council of Almeria promotes subsidised housing mainly for rent to buy.

Normally, the promoters deduct 50% of the amounts paid in rent from the final price of the property. However, the Provincial Council of Almeria deducts 100% of these amounts. In other words, everything paid by the tenant during the rental period is fully deducted from the price of the property.

The Diputación has promoted subsidised housing developments in 17 municipalities and currently also assists local councils that promote subsidised housing in the drafting of the projects and in obtaining the aid granted by the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government).

In total, the Provincial Council of Almeria has 61 homes that are rented to families in the smaller municipalities of the province and another eight that will be put into use in the coming months.
