«The works to improve the Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP), which began last week and will enable the treatment of 12.26 cubic hectometres of water per year, are actions that will benefit more than 110,000 inhabitants and, directly and indirectly, the whole of the regions of Levante Almeriense and Almanzora». This was stated by the Delegate of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Andalusian Regional Government, Antonio Mena in dialogue with La Comarca Noticias.
The delegate described this infrastructure as «crucial to achieve water balance in the area and which has an investment of just over 9.2 million euros and a completion period of one year». It is, as the territorial delegate recalled, «a new phase of the important project to improve the guarantee of supply to the municipalities of the Almanzora Valley, with which we are already bringing water to the municipalities of Albox and Olula del Río».
The next municipalities to benefit are Arboleas and Zurgena, and then the vast majority of the towns in the area. «We are in one of the driest regions in Spain and we are acting accordingly; it is one of the challenges that the Andalusian Regional Government has set itself during this term of office.
