He was caught while loading phytosanitary products on a farm.

On the 3rd of December, personnel of the Guardia Civil of the Prevention Area of the Main Post of Huércal Overa, arrested a person, in an infraganti manner, when he was stealing numerous phytosanitary material in a farm tools shed belonging to a farm located in the area of La Morena de Huércal Overa. As a result of the subsequent analysis of the information obtained and the evidence found during this arrest, another person is also being investigated for another offence of robbery with force and another theft of products of the same nature reported at the Civil Guard Station in Pulpí is clarified.

These arrests were made as part of the actions carried out by the Guardia Civil in the province of Almeria, in which the permanent contact that the agents maintain with farmers and livestock farmers allows a rapid response to theft, robbery and damage to agricultural and livestock facilities. This constant and close relationship between different units of the Guardia Civil of the Almeria Command and the workers of the different sectors, as well as the preventive actions carried out by the agents, surveillance, interviews and continuous and random inspections in recycling centres, offers a rapid response to crimes against property in the agricultural and livestock environment.

At around 21.00 hours on 3 December, Civil Guard personnel carrying out a Public Safety Prevention service, consisting of surveillance of agricultural areas in the municipality of Huércal Overa, became suspicious of a van parked next to the door of a farm tools shed on a farm located in the area of La Morena. On approaching the place, they observed that the door of the shed had been forced open and that the van’s number plates had been concealed with aluminium foil.

On inspecting the scene, the police located and identified a person who was introducing different phytosanitary materials from inside the shed into the van, at which point an employee of the farm arrived on the scene, who recognised some of the material that had been loaded into the van as belonging to the farm, so they proceeded to immediately arrest the perpetrator for the offence of attempted burglary with force against property.

Once the detainee and the van were in the premises of the Guardia Civil of Huércal Overa, they proceeded to carry out the inspection and analysis of the material located inside the van, in this way and consulting their own database, the Guardia Civil found out that part of the material located could have been reported as stolen, on the same day, in the Civil Guard Station of Pulpí, being subsequently recognised by the complainant as their own. Analysing this information and various documents found inside the van, the Guardia Civil is also investigating another person, who has a number of police records for similar offences, for a crime of Robbery with Force in Things.

It should be noted that, during this action, the perpetrator had already loaded inside the van more than 750 kg of material belonging to the farm located in the area of La Morena, and that the rest of the stolen material, which had been reported in Pulpí, was valued at around 3,000 euros.

The proceedings conducted by the Guardia Civil together with the detainee and the investigated person, are placed at the disposal of the examining magistrate’s court Nº.2 of Huércal Overa.
