The municipalities of Cóbdar and Ohanes will have new tourist accommodation thanks to investments promoted by the Provincial Council of Almeria. The Andalusian Regional Government has approved two projects, charged to the Provincial Plans, with a total investment of more than half a million euros, which will generate employment and wealth through tourism.
In Cóbdar, the project to be executed is the Adaptation of a Building for Catering and Rural Accommodation and has a budget of 365,000 euros financed by the Provincial Plans and an extra contribution from the council.
The works will consist of the completion and adaptation of an unused building to provide the municipality with a Café-Bar and Restaurant on the ground floor and rural accommodation on the first floor with seven single rooms. The building in which these new tourist facilities will be located has a floor area of 537 m2.

In Ohanes, the project will consist of adapting an existing building into a tourist flat establishment with four flats. It also includes the necessary urbanisation works to provide the necessary services and air-conditioning for the operation of the existing tourist flats on the plots. There are four flats on a plot of land at the foot of a square with a viewpoint and have a single floor with an aesthetic common to the properties in the municipality.
The Provincial Councillor for Development, Antonio J. Rodríguez, stressed the importance of works that not only improve municipal facilities and infrastructures: «These works will also generate stable employment in the municipality and will generate wealth and jobs. We are proud to be able to support the local councils in their commitment to boosting the economy through rural tourism».
In this sense, he stressed that, in addition, thanks to the measure implemented by the Provincial Council to subtract from the municipal contribution the low obtained in the award of the works, the two councils will be able to save money that can be invested in other purposes.
Antonio J. Rodríguez has assured that «Provincial Council as a council of councils is going to be at the side of the municipalities to be able to turn their aspirations into reality and to continue to equalise opportunities between the people of Almeria, wherever they live».
