The Guardia Civil has arrested two men who were sailing in the waters of San Pedro del Pinatar on board a stolen speedboat. The two individuals stole the vehicle, valued at 390,000 euros, last December in the municipality of Rosas, Gerona.
The investigation began when the owner of the boat reported the theft to the Mossos d’Esquadra police station in Rosas. It was then that the Benemérita discovered that the boat could be in Murcian waters, so communications were established between the Provincial Maritime Services of Gerona and those of the Region of Murcia with the aim of locating it.
Finally, it was detected sailing two miles off Punta de Algas, in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, at which point it was intercepted by a Guardia Civil patrol boat.

The agents boarded it without giving it time to flee, arresting its two crew members on the spot as alleged perpetrators of the crime of boat theft.
The high-speed vessel is highly sought after by drug trafficking mafias.
Judicial Police
Once transferred to the Port of Santa Lucía de Cartagena, Judicial Police specialists carried out an ocular inspection, suspecting that, in addition, the boat now recovered could have been stolen for the transport of narcotic substances by sea, with one of the detainees having a previous record for crimes against public health.
Coveted by the mafias
This is a type of boat which, due to its power and speed, is highly coveted by mafias dedicated to the trafficking of drugs and people between the African continent and the peninsula.
