The latest annual report on the measures of the Mar Menor Law has been drawn up on the basis of a study of the effect that each port has on its surroundings. In the case of the port of Lo Pagán and Tomás Maestre, they have been carried out directly by the Regional Ministry of Development and Infrastructures through the Directorate General for the Coast and Ports. In the ports of Los Urrutias and Los Nietos they were presented by the current concessionaires, while in the rest they have been provided by the bidders for each of the concessions.
With regard to the impact on the coastline, in all cases, given that the coastal dynamics in the Mar Menor are of little magnitude, it is concluded that the impact of the ports is minimal, if not nil, and it is only recommended in some cases (Los Alcázares, Los Urrutias and Los Nietos) to carry out a small occasional maintenance dredging in the surroundings, outside the port domain, to avoid accumulation of sediments.
In Los Alcázares, whose concession was recently signed, the corresponding procedures are being programmed, and in Los Urrutias and Los Nietos, whose concessions will soon be put out to tender, they will be carried out when there is a new concessionaire. In other words, the execution of the actions (dredging part of the sediments) will be the responsibility of the concession holders. The Regional Ministry has stated that it will ask for these actions to be carried out and will include them in the tender documents.

Failure to carry out the actions included in the specifications and in the concessionaire’s bids may result in the concession being rescinded for non-compliance, and the concession would have to be re-tendered in the event of non-compliance.
