The Provincial Council of Almeria and the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation have presented the events included in the Andalusian Championship Provincial Phase of Mountain Races (CxM) and the School Age Vertical Races, which will start next 18th February in Fines.
This has been announced by the vice-president and deputy of Sport, Healthy Life and Youth, José Antonio García; and the delegate of the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation, Emilio Martínez, who have revealed that the races will be held in Fines, Purchena, Huércal de Almería and Sierro.
The Deputy for Sport, Healthy Living and Youth has indicated that «next January 18 starts the provincial phase of the Andalusian Championship at school age, and there are four venues that come to reinforce the work being done by the Provincial Council of Almeria through the Provincial Games, promoting sport at school age».
«It is important that the institutions are committed to children practising sport and making physical activity a regular practice, and the fact that mountain races, an activity that is growing in the province, is focused on school children is great news», added García.
For his part, Martínez expressed his satisfaction at presenting these championships: «Last year a good seed was sown by holding the Andalusian championship in Sierro at school age and the Spanish championship, also at school age. From the Federation we continue to promote the practice of sport in mountain races at school age».
Similarly, the delegate of the Andalusian Mountaineering Federation has pointed out that «in addition, this year there is also a novelty, as in Purchena and Sierro there will be vertical races for children».
Mountain sports at school age in the province of Almería are becoming increasingly important, which is why a calendar has been designed for these sportsmen and women, as well as for the senior categories. In addition, the province has a Spanish Children’s CxM and Vertical Race champion, Mar González Gómez from CD GALOSPORT.

These tests will allow to configure the Almeria selection, which will represent the province in the Andalusian Championship Final Phase, which will take place in CxM Pinsapin on 27 and 28 April in Yunquera (Malaga).
