The work on the Albox Health Centre has been at a standstill for several weeks, prompting health workers to demonstrate outside the building.
«We will do this every Wednesday until the problems we have pointed out are solved. The stoppage of the work for more than three weeks and the working conditions in which our colleagues have been working make it impossible to offer a good service to users. Today we have had the support of many of those users who understand that we are concentrating our efforts to achieve decent working conditions and patient comfort,» says Antonio Ramos, provincial delegate of the SATSE union.
«In our opinion, the remodelling work began with very poor planning,» SATSE says. This has led, they claim, to two users being attended to at the same time in the same consultation room by two professionals separated only by a screen, where the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality is also being violated.

There is a lack of privacy, data protection is violated, there are no washbasins in the doctors’ and nurses’ consulting rooms. A series of deficiencies that also make the workplace unsafe.
«We don’t know what the problem is, nobody has told us. We don’t know the deadline for the work or the reason for the delay. Today we have seen one person giving a coat of paint and another going around the site, but it is a facelift, there are not 20 people working as there is supposed to be in a refurbishment like the one being carried out», concludes Ramos when consulted by this newspaper.
