Thanks to the collaboration of citizens, the Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation to clarify the incineration of a dog on a plot of land in San Javier, which has resulted in the investigation of a resident of the municipality as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against animals.
The proceedings began a few weeks ago, when a citizen reported, through the website of the Guardia Civil, the existence of the remains of a dog that had been incinerated on a farm in the municipality of San Javier.
The files provided by the citizen showed a partially burnt dog in a metal container. The members of the Servicio de Protección de la Naturaleza (SEPRONA) of the Benemérita opened the investigation to clarify the facts and went to the place where they carried out an exhaustive technical-ocular inspection that allowed them to verify the existence of the lifeless body of the burnt dog.
During the inspection, the civil guards found that there were other animals on the farm and that they were in good condition. They also verified that, in the pet database, the owner of the farm owned another animal that was missing and that there was another dog buried inside the plot.
The investigation revealed that the owner of the farm was disposing of the bodies of the dead pets by incineration in an irregular manner, without managing them properly, in this case by handing them over to an authorised company for their correct management.
The Guardia Civil has investigated the person in charge of the farm and has been instructed as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against animals. In addition, the City Council of San Javier has been informed of the facts, as it is the competent authority in the matter of pets.
The investigated, together with the proceedings, has been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of San Javier (Murcia).
