The screams of a man have put the neighbours of Lorca on alert this Sunday. The man, who was trying to make himself heard, was trapped in a fire in a four-storey building and, in desperation, began to call for help when the neighbourhood of Los Ángeles-Apolonia was asleep.
It happened at around six o’clock in the morning in Calle Transformador. Around that time, around twenty calls were received by the Emergency Coordination Centre 112 Region of Murcia warning of the incident. The informants indicated that the building was on fire.
According to witnesses, the fire came from one of the houses located on the first floor, from which they could hear the screams of a person. Alarmed to hear that someone was inside the flat, the neighbours tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers, but were unsuccessful.

National Police officers were called to the scene and were able to see the man trapped in a window, amidst a large amount of smoke. Together with the patrols, the Fire Brigade of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Andalusian Regional Government of the Region of Murcia, personnel from the Municipal Emergency Service of Lorca City Council and a Mobile Emergency Unit of the Emergency and Health Emergency Management 061 have been mobilised.
