The Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing will carry out energy refurbishment work on a development of 24 rented homes at number 23 Calle San Juan, in the Albox municipality of Almeria, which has just been awarded to the company Lambda 360 Grados, starting in April and lasting 10 months.
The Andalusian Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (AVRA), in charge of managing the public housing stock of the Autonomous Community, has contracted the project with a budget of 647,398 euros, which will be financed with European Feder funds from the 2021-2027 Operational Programme.
The development in which this action to improve the energy efficiency of housing will be carried out is located in the Loma neighbourhood, located on the outskirts of the town of Albox. It is a four-storey building, with two-, three- and four-bedroom homes facing a central courtyard and with commercial premises on the ground floor.

With this intervention «the insulation and waterproofing of the roof will be reinforced, a thermal insulation system will be installed on the exterior façades and the interior courtyard and double-glazed windows with greater thermal efficiency will be installed, as well as doors with double galvanised steel sheeting with a polyurethane chamber», explained the general manager of AVRA, Susana Cayuelas.
The project also includes the installation of two ventilation systems, one permanent and decentralised in bedrooms and living rooms for heat recovery, and another individual one in the bathrooms, through the installation of galvanised steel ducts. Heat pumps will also be installed for the extraction of aerothermal energy for the production of domestic hot water and other improvements will be carried out in the communal areas, such as painting, repairing the main door and meters and replacing letterboxes.
The works, emphasised AVRA’s general manager, «will make it possible to reduce the energy consumption of these 24 homes, with the consequent economic savings for the families». Susana Cayuelas also highlighted «the contribution of this type of work to improving the environment, given that the measures implemented, by reducing consumption, will lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions».
This is one of the 13 actions that will be carried out this year and next throughout Andalusian Regional Government to improve the energy performance of the Andalusian Regional Government’s public rented housing developments. These works, which will be financed with 15.7 million euros from the European funds of the Feder 2021-2027 Operational Programme for Andalusia, will improve buildings with 656 rental homes owned by AVRA.
In accordance with the specific objective of the Feder 2021-2027 Operational Programme, these actions seek to promote energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The Agency has been working along these lines for years on its rented housing stock, carrying out energy refurbishment in buildings and homes, by incorporating innovative renewable energy systems, with the dual aim of improving comfort in the homes and at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, to help halt environmental deterioration.
