The Provincial Council of Almeria collaborates in the fight against cancer through a sporting and solidarity activity such as ‘Tetica de Bacares Almendros Rosas’, which will be held on Sunday 10 March in the town of Bacares and will bring together 250 participants.
All proceeds will go entirely to the Spanish Association Against Cancer. The start will take place at 10 am in the Town Hall Square of Bacares, as detailed by the vice-president and deputy for Sport, Healthy Life and Youth, José Antonio García; the mayoress of Bacares, Encarnación María Zaguirre; and the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Almería, Magdalena Cantero.
The Provincial Councillor for Sport, Healthy Living and Youth highlighted that «this solidarity trail will take place on 10 March, and from the Provincial Council of Almeria I would like to thank the City Council for this initiative because it meets the objectives of the sports area. One of them is to give visibility to people with cancer and the importance of sport as preventive medicine and therapy for people facing cancer.
In addition, García has invited everyone to «visit the municipality of Bacares to enjoy this Almendros Rosas trail, while supporting and giving visibility to the event to raise funds for the Spanish Association Against Cancer».
For her part, the mayoress thanked the Provincial Council of Almeria for supporting this project and indicated that «it is a solidarity project and that all proceeds will go to the Association, which we also want to thank for their support».
«This initiative was born in 2021 and with the celebration of this trail we are taking a very important step. We want to donate the proceeds to research. All cancers are aggressive and if they are detected early and have a good diagnosis, the treatment will work. That is why we want research to continue», he added.
Finally, Cantero thanked «the great effort of the Provincial Council of Almeria to promote sport and the City Council of Bacares for this great initiative» and invited all the people of Almeria to participate in this solidarity trail.
«Going to Bacares is always a great idea and what better than this solidarity initiative that allows the Spanish Association Against Cancer to help cancer patients and demonstrate that the best medicine to fight cancer is always sport and an active life,» said the president of AECC in Almeria.
Registration for this walk can be made on the website www.todofondo.net and costs 7 euros, including breakfast and a gift. La Tetica de Bacares Almendros Rosas is an initiative that was born in 2021, in Bacares, because of one of so many breast cancers. The strength transmitted by the mountain, the Tetica de Bacares, has made a breast cancer patient in Bacares, through walks and hikes to reach the top, come up with the simile of the strength you have to have to overcome chemotherapy treatment, a mastectomy, radiotherapy, hormone treatment and reach the overcoming of cancer, with the power to reach the goal, the top of the mountain.
For this reason, the Provincial Council of Almeria and the Bacares Town Council want to carry out the trail ‘Tetica de Bacares Almendros Rosas’ to encourage the practice of sport in this disease and to be able to contribute a grain of sand in the research against cancer, since all the proceeds of this project will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
