Fire that could have caused a tragedy in Fines extinguished

More than fifty residents had to be evicted.

It could have been a tragedy if the alarm had not been raised by neighbours from other blocks who saw smoke rising from the ground floor of the building in Calle Copas in the municipality of Fines, raising suspicions of the worst.

While the memory of what happened in Valencia is still fresh, as a precaution the fire brigade evacuated more than fifty neighbours after receiving the alert minutes before 19:00 hours on Sunday, when the flames coming from a garage and the prevailing wind could have turned into a lethal combination.

For reasons that are still being established, the fire started in the vehicle storage area, and many of the residents of the flats had to be warned of the danger they were in, and then evacuated their homes as a precaution.

The incident ended without personal injury, thanks to the intervention of the Albox fire brigade.
