ast Monday’s plenary session, which dealt with thirteen items on the agenda, was certainly the most important session of the year, as the municipal budgets were presented for approval.
Three councillors from UCIN, the group of the former mayor of Albox, Francisco Torrecillas, attended the Plenary, but three other councillors, including Torrecillas himself, did not attend the meeting, which was understood as a gesture of «contempt and irresponsibility» as they were going to discuss the accounts and the destination of the money in the year 2024.
But what was surprising the day after the Plenary, was to see on Torrecillas’ social networks how he criticised the accounts presented for 2024; «These budgets are going to impoverish the town even more, in short, little investment and an increase in Chapter 1 of personnel», the councillor stated on his Facebook profile. The surprise caused by his criticism is that the three councillors of UCIN, the political group that Torrecillas is supposed to represent, voted in favour of the budget, which has exposed what appears to be a disparity of criteria within the independent group. On the other hand, the staff of the Albox Town Hall was increased by 41 percent by Torrecillas’ own management, as was exposed in the Plenary. The PSOE spokesperson Mary Trinidad, who also voted in favour of the 2024 budget, said that «allocating more than 60 per cent of the income to pay the staff, hinders the investments».

The fracture within UCIN was also hinted at by Torrecillas a few days ago, when he tried to put pressure on one of the councillors of his group on this same social network.
A series of disagreements in the councillor’s way of proceeding, debts and judicial imputations, would be behind the distancing of UCIN members, who feel «defrauded and helpless» in the face of Torrecillas’ attitude and the complex judicial panorama that lies ahead, which will provoke the judicial parade of Torrecillas, some members of what was his government team and several workers of the Town Hall.
