
The municipality of Albox opens its Holy Week with the Brotherhood of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores. This Friday 22nd March, at five o’clock in the afternoon, the children’s procession of ‘Los Negros’ made its departure from the Church of Santa Maria, and numerous neighbours awaited with joy the arrival of this moment to enjoy once again the devotion and the feeling that the Passion Week generates.
The children’s processions in the municipality of Alboja have become a great attraction in recent years. The four brotherhoods bring out their images in reduced size, carried by children who walk through the main streets of the town. There is no lack of thrones with beautiful images, exact replicas of those historically venerated. In this case, the Cristo de Columna, Padre Jesús de la Humildad y el Silencio, and Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores.
In the evening, at ten o’clock, the venerated Virgen de Los Dolores, one of the most beloved by many locals peoples, took to the streets. Under the light of the candles and carried by the women of the village, the emotion of experiencing Holy Week once again could be seen on the faces of the many locals who accompanied the image of the Virgen del Paso Negro on this Friday of Sorrows.

This Passion Saturday was marked by the solemn procession of Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Pasión y Misericordia en su sagrado prendimiento (Our Father Jesus of the Passion and Mercy in his sacred arrest). The last Brotherhood to join the Holy Week in Alboja, it represents the moment in which Jesus is taken prisoner in the Garden of Olives, having been kissed by Judas Iscariot. The mystery will be completed by a Roman soldier, Malco, accompanied by the Musical Grouping Nuestra Señora de las Angustias de Alcalá la Real (Jaén).
