Sabores Almería’ fills the ‘Salón Gourmets’ with light with its star guests.

The ‘Sabores Almería’ stand at the 37th edition of ‘Salón Gourmets’, in Ifema, Madrid, has experienced its most intense day, the day with the most guests and programmed activities of the entire fair, one of the most important gastronomic events in the world. The actress and businesswoman Raquel Meroño, the chef and presenter Samantha Vallejo – Nágera and the Michelin star chef Rodrigo de la Calle have filled the Almerian space in Madrid with light and have highlighted the excellence and virtues of Almerian products and the companies of the Diputación’s gourmet brand.

Raquel Meroño, winner of one of the most successful editions of MasterChef Celebrity, visited the ‘Sabores Almería’ stand and toured the 26 individual exhibitors of the brand’s companies that have travelled to Madrid. Meroño stated that “I have come to see the variety of ‘Sabores Almería’ products, familiarise myself with them and take them to The Kitchen, which is the kitchen of the MasterChef application where a lot of celebrities and gastronomic influencers are making delicious recipes for everyone”.

The renowned chef and MasterChef presenter, Samantha Vallejo Nágera, has visited ‘Sabores Almería’ with CASI. The chef participated on the central stage of the stand together with the president of CASI, Antonio Bretones, and the chef Rafa Rodríguez, in an event where they presented different varieties of tomato such as black Barbaro, heart of CASI, Rebel, Raf, Adora or San Manzano.

The MasterChef presenter explained that “I am proud to be an ambassador for CASI. I have become hooked on the flavour tomato, a tomato that you have all year round and which fills you with happiness. And also in Almería, a land with the highest happiness index, so congratulations, you are so lucky!

The President of the Almeria Provincial Council, Javier A. García, thanked CASI and Samantha for their presence at ‘Salón Gourmets’ and took the opportunity to recall the sustainable use of water in Almeria’s agriculture because, as he explained, “one cubic hectometre in Almeria irrigates 166 hectares, nowhere else in the world does one cubic hectometre irrigate so much. The price of this water is around 450,000 euros. This value is transformed into around 38 million euros. The return we get from each drop of water is the highest in the world and we do it by cultivating health.

The Michelin Star chef Rodrigo de la Calle, who gives free rein to his talent at El Invernadero Restaurant in Madrid, has visited ‘Sabores Almería’ together with Primaflor and has prepared different dishes with the products of this company from Almería. Specifically, De la Calle has cooked three recipes with Pak Choi, lettuce hearts and the 7 Flavours of Primaflor Salad, one of the new products that the brand is presenting at ‘Salón Gourmets’.

Sustainability and creativity

Today, Cosentino’s Silestone Institute offered an interesting workshop on sustainability in catering with the participation of the chef of the Alquímico Restaurant, Borja González, and the expert in food safety and spokesperson for the Silestone Institute, Maite Pelayo. They addressed issues such as the promotion of healthier diets, responsible food selection, reducing waste and the principles of reusing and recycling.

The first showcookingo with an Almerian accent of the day featured chef María Guernoun, from Marhaba, who prepared a dish entitled ‘Between cultures’. The chef cooked with the following products: honey glazed lamb, nuts, roasted tomato and thyme aroma and lemon confit.

Chef Noelia Carrión offered a journey with ‘Un paseo del cabo al monte’ (A walk from the cape to the mountain). It is a dessert that starts with a base of lemon biscuit crumble with pistachio, goat’s cheese mousse filled with red fruit coulis, bougainvillea veil, crunchy almond and spices, crowned with a beehive of meringue and honey with rosemary smoke and a spray of olive oil.

Meanwhile, Jessica Núñez, from La Casualidad, presented a truffled monkfish with Almería red prawns and artichoke heart. The preparation is a sample of the type of cuisine that Núñez offers in this Almeria establishment, which is characterised by the originality of its dishes, always crowned by the flavours of the province of Almeria.

The activities at the ‘Sabores Almería’ stand ended with a tasting of Lorusso jam products paired with different types of chocolate. The session was led by the director of the Escuela de Chocolates de Madrid, Helen Vásquez.
