The people of Albox have had the honour of having the presence of a figure such as Inocencio Arias at the inauguration of the 1st Albox Fair. The well-known diplomat, born in the town, presented his book «Esta España nuestra» and became the godfather of a cultural event which is being held for the first time in the municipality and which has the vocation of becoming a regional reference point.
The Mayoress of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso, was accompanied at the ribbon cutting ceremony by one of her most illustrious neighbours. In addition, the Deputy for Housing, Consortiums and Provincial Buildings, Ana Lourdes Ramírez and the rest of the members of the government team. «When we contacted Inocencio Arias he immediately said yes. He is an albojense, proud to be one, a book lover and for us it has been a great honour» said Alfonso, about the charismatic protagonist, before the colloquium and the signing of books for the numerous supporters who were waiting for him, copy in hand, to have his signature and a photo for the memory.
This was one of the most special moments of the first day of the Book Fair which, as will be the case throughout the week, was completed with a puppet show and the opening of the different stands of the fair run by the bookshops of the municipality and the Institute of Almerian Studies.

The journalist and writer Sheila Hernández and her book «Soy joven, no gilipollas» (I’m young, not an asshole) was the star of the second day. Also the signing of local authors; Diego Cerdán, Noelia Cortes, Pedro Pardos, José Maldonado, Pedro Soler, Lorena Bonil and Luís Sánchez, took up most of the programme on Wednesday afternoon. Parallel activities included a show by Roald Dahln and visits to the Municipal Library.
On Thursday, storytelling with the storyteller Fran Pintadera who will offer a storytelling for children «Pelos como escarpias» and another for adults, under the title «La cosa es simple».
On Friday, all attention will be focused on the presentation of «Antes se secará la Tierra», the third novel by the well-known author, Fernando J. Múñez, at 7 p.m., at the Fair’s stands set up in the Plaza Mayor. Estefanía Ruiz, who will present her erotic thriller «Mangata» on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. and in parallel, a giant book workshop will be held.
