A before and after in the history of the municipality, which after seeing the popular success, a new event is installed with the aim of lasting in time for many years.
The first pilgrimage kicked off from the municipal swimming pool, where a hundred people waited with floats and a brass band to accompany San Marcos on his first ascent to Gevas after 70 years in the parish of San Ginés de la Jara. Later, in the Era of this hamlet, mass was celebrated in his honour and the Town Hall distributed rice to all those present to the rhythm of the Almerian singer David Santiago.
In this sense, the councillor for Festivities, Isidro Pedrosa, expressed his overflowing joy after a week of effort and work so that «everything went as imagined. It has been a few days of preparations that have been worth it because the welcome has been greater than expected and that is a positive fact for the municipality, although nothing would have been possible without the volunteers and the participation of the people».

On the other hand, Isidro Pedrosa, stressed that «this celebration had a purpose which was none other than coexistence. San Marcos is a key figure for all the neighbours, who each one lives particularly with his family or friends in farmhouses or camps, and what we were looking for from the government team, was a moment of union in which all the neighbours could spend some time together, paying a well-deserved tribute to San Marcos».
Finally, the councillor stressed that «this day is here to stay. Next year we will work to improve some aspects so that the residents of the municipality can celebrate this pilgrimage again. We are proud to contribute to this town being more united than ever.
