The PFEA improves infrastructures and public spaces in Líjar and Chercos.

The Agricultural Employment Promotion Plan managed by the Provincial Council of Almeria is implementing six projects in the municipalities of Líjar and Chercos for the improvement of infrastructure and public spaces. The provincial deputy of the PFEA, Matilde Díaz, has visited the works that are crystallizing in these two municipalities an investment of 288,420 euros.

In this regard, the deputy pointed out that “the PFEA is a valuable example of institutional collaboration in favour of the municipalities between the Andalusian Regional Government, the Government of Spain, the municipalities and the Provincial Council. It guarantees employment in municipalities with fewer resources and an investment that becomes essential for the maintenance and improvement of public services”.

In Líjar, the deputy was accompanied by the mayoress María Jesús Díaz and together with her she checked the state of execution of the three projects currently underway, which have a budget of 186,258 euros.

The project Maintenance and Urban Improvements in Líjar consists of four actions:

        • Calle La Fuente, which is 100% completed. The existing paving has been replaced with concrete paving and finished with cobblestones; the supply network is also going to be replaced and the house connections for both supply and drainage will be carried out.
        • Paving of the esplanade recreational area and car park. After stabilising the area, the paving of the esplanade is being completed with HA25 concrete and 15x15x6 mesh, in order to channel rainwater to the grilles connected to the rainwater network.
        • Plaza in Calle La Fuente, which has already been completed. The existing paving has been replaced with concrete paving and finished with cobblestones. The back wall has been covered, regularising the surface and then covered with natural slate veneer. In addition, the handrail has been adapted and a new one has been placed on the staircase and new benches for outdoor use.
        • Wall in Paseo Street (100%). The cladding has been adapted and the surface has been regularised in order to lay natural slate veneer.

In addition, Matilde Díaz and the mayoress have visited the works of reforms in the Swimming Pool Complex, which are being executed under the Stable Employment Plan. These improvements are materialising with the renovation of the toilets of this sports facility and the change of the grass in the rest areas.

Finally, in Líjar, improvements are also being carried out in Public Spaces, consisting of Cleaning of Ditches, Cleaning and Clearing, Gardening and Painting.
