The lifeless body of an Overa resident is found thanks to the barking of his dog.

Diego Giménez Parra, “Yeyo”, as he was known in the neighbourhood of Overa, was found dead thanks to the barking of his dog Lola, who was accompanying him as she usually did, at the time of his disappearance on 18 April.

It was the workers who were repairing a pipe in the area between Huércal la Vieja and El Castillo, who recognised Lola’s barking and found Diego’s body. It seems that the pet has been by his owner’s side all this time. Diego, 84 years old and deaf and dumb, was a resident of Overa, a hamlet of around 700 inhabitants belonging to Huércal Overa. “Normally, around 4 p.m., he would go to pick asparagus, accompanied by his dog,” the mayor of Huércal Overa, Domingo Fernández, told La Comarca Noticias.

The photo illustrating this information is the one taken by one of the surveillance cameras on the same day of the disappearance of Diego Giménez Parra.
