First round of the 72nd edition of the Spanish Sportive Pigeon Championship

This Saturday afternoon, the municipality of Fines hosted the first scoring event of a new edition of the Spanish Sport Pigeon Championship, Copa Su Majestad El Rey.

One hundred specimens representing the different federations began to compete in the first of seven events, which will determine the 2024 champion.

The pigeon selected for this race, Ahora vas y lo cascas, belongs to the Moreno brothers from Macael, which started very strongly, flying high, stopped in the same cypress trees as Lucky on Tuesday and ended up on a bank above the Las Cruces industrial estate, where the race finished at around 21.10 hours, under the watchful eye of the judges Trinitario Fernández, Daniel Aliaga, José Miguel Ruiz, Jesús Alvarez, Ismael Frutos, Alfonso Llamas and David Maldonado.

The event was attended by a large number of enthusiasts who came from all over the country to witness the first release and the coupling that will count towards the final tally on 1 June.

A different afternoon for the town of Fines which, through the San Esteban pigeon fanciers club, is the protagonist of a national meeting and which has a positive impact on the town, thanks to the commitment of the Royal Federation of Colombiculture, the Andalusian Federation of this sport, the Town Hall of Fines and the Provincial Council of Almeria.
