Carolina España: “Cosentino is a mirror for companies in Andalusia, Spain and the world”.

The Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, visited this Monday the headquarters of the Cosentino Group, located in the town of Cantoria. España stressed the importance of this family company, “which has become a true giant in the world of manufacturing and distribution of innovative and sustainable surfaces and one of the main employers and generators of wealth in our region”.

Declaration of autonomous interest in Andalusia

During his visit, Spain stressed the importance of the Cosentino Group’s expansion project and the revaluation of waste, born thanks to a key collaboration with the Andalusian Regional Government. Not surprisingly, it is the first initiative of a private company to obtain the declaration of Autonomous Interest in Andalusia. It has an investment of 719 million euros and the creation of some 1,500 jobs, half of which have already been put into operation.

In her speech, the Minister emphasised the Andalusian Government’s support to companies and, thus, she highlighted the policies implemented by the Andalusian administration in the last five years, creating “an ecosystem of confidence for entrepreneurs based on budgetary and institutional stability and legal certainty that is bearing fruit. Businesses are our allies and those who create employment and wealth”, he stressed.

The Regional Minister reminded that “we are carrying out a real revolution, to the point of making our region the easiest place to invest in and where there is less bureaucracy. We believe in public-private collaboration, hence the more than 280 million euros in incentives that Andalusia Trade is making available to the Andalusian business sector,” she recalled. “The data on employment, Social Security affiliation, the number of companies and business confidence are growing above average, surpassing Madrid and Catalonia. And this is very important and means that we are on the right track”.

Furthermore, she has placed Almeria as a province “fundamental for the transformation of Andalusia”, while recalling its relevance in aspects such as the international market, after a 2023 that was “the second best in the historical series in exports for Almeria, with 5,664 million euros, and a trade surplus of 1,042 million, the third best among the provinces”. The minister recalled that Almeria reached in January and February 2024, a level of exports worth 1,244 million euros and continues to be the third most exporting Andalusian province. Andalusian exports account for 17.7% of Andalusia’s total sales, with a trade surplus of 500 million euros, the second best among the provinces. Vegetables account for 75% of exports and Germany is the market for 28.7% of exports.Spain has highlighted the importance of Almeria for the Junta, recalling that this year the province has the highest budget in history: 402.99 million euros, “with which we want to respond to the needs of the people of Almeria. Almería is at the centre of the Junta de Andalucía’s investments”, he said.
