The subdelegate of the Government visits Líjar

The sub-delegate of the Government in Almeria, José María Martín Fernández, has visited the digital literacy course for rural women that is currently being taught by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) in the municipality of Líjar. During this visit, and accompanied by the mayoress of this town, María Jesús Díaz, the sub-delegate stated that “the acquisition of skills in this area is crucial to combat the digital, gender and territorial divide”. This initiative is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and the National Strategy for the Demographic Challenge 2030.

The literacy programme for women hired under the Agrarian Employment Promotion Programme (PFEA) is an initiative of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy developed through the SEPE. In Líjar, the course began on 10 April and ends today, Tuesday, 14 May. As the sub-delegate explained, “this is a commitment by the Spanish government to the personal development and social inclusion of women in rural areas”. He added that “with initiatives such as those being carried out, the aim is to promote the initiation or updating of knowledge in the field of New Technologies, also oriented towards the search for new employment opportunities”. A total of 9 women from the municipalities of Chercos, Albanchez and Líjar are taking part in the course.

The mayoress of this locality has thanked the implementation of this programme that “generates better and greater employment opportunities for unemployed people in municipalities of smaller population with the aim of helping to eliminate the closing of the digital divide and also with the aim of promoting training”.

During the visit to Líjar, the Government Subdelegate also visited the Pfea works that are currently underway and which represent an investment of 97,000 euros for this town. The works currently underway consist of conservation works in public spaces, urban improvements and the refurbishment of the municipal swimming pool complex.
