The 72nd edition of the National Championship of Sporting Pigeons Copa His Majesty the King, is entering its equator, with the third release carried out this past Saturday in the town of Fines, before a thousand pigeon fanciers.
The pigeon in charge of leading the pigeon flock was Venus, owned by Ramón Gómez of the club Onosca La Nucía.
“I am satisfied with the work the pigeon has done, but I would have liked it to have finished off. I am happy, it has done a good job. It is a very noble pigeon that is worked in a village and that is noticeable when flying in this type of stadiums like the one we have here. The animal recognises, it doesn’t usually leave the village and that helps it a lot to find its place”.
“Venus likes cypresses very much and went to look for them”, says the owner, who has thoroughly prepared a pigeon that, according to the unanimous opinion of the fanciers, has done a good job.
From early in the morning, owners and fanciers in general, began to arrive in the town of Fines and proof of this were the terraces of the bars which were full until seven o’clock in the evening, the start time of the release.
The local traders, especially those dedicated to the hotel and catering trade, recognise the positive impact of an event which, with the passing of the trials, is expected to continue to attract more and more followers.
The next event will take place on Tuesday at 19:00, when it will be the turn of La Junta, owned by De Diego Sánchez.
