Bilbao stars in the expansion of Cosentino’s “City” model

Cosentino opens a new “City”, continuing its commitment to this innovative model of exhibition spaces located in the centre of the world’s main cities. After Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca and Malaga, Bilbao joins the firm’s network of “Citys” in Spain to offer architects, planners, interior designers, designers, as well as end consumers, the opportunity to see the wide range of applications of its Silestone®, Dekton® and Sensa by Cosentino® surfaces.

Open to the public since Wednesday 15 May, the showroom is located in Plaza Euskadi, in the premises at Calle Ramón Rubial, 4 (the former Sanwicoffee cafeteria), at the foot of the Iberdrola Tower designed by the architect César Pelli. Likewise, the building where the showroom is located is a unique work by OAB (Carlos Ferrater) and Katsura Arquitectura. With a total surface area of 330m2 distributed in different areas, “Cosentino City Bilbao”, whose official inauguration event will be held in the coming months, aspires to become a reference space and meeting point for design and architecture professionals.

A dynamic and open place that will develop a full agenda of events, showcookings and presentations with the aim of linking the world of architecture and design with other areas such as gastronomy, art or culture. All this, while maintaining its nature as an exhibition and collaborative proposal in which both professionals and individuals can learn about Cosentino’s latest developments in its various applications – which include countertops, facades, flooring, cladding or bathroom applications – while at the same time having at their disposal an extensive library of interior design and architecture solutions to develop any type of project.

In the management and adaptation of the premises, Cosentino has had the collaboration of the Bilbao firm Cembrero Servicios Inmobiliarios, and the Riojan company JMC Interiorismo y Obra as general contractor. For its part, the interior and design work of the “City” has been developed by Cosentino’s in-house design team, and companies such as Mármoles del Nervión from Alava; Blux and Biar Lighting for the lighting and technical lighting; PIU Design; Planika; and Interaltea have participated in its decoration.

With this opening, the company from Almeria consolidates its commitment to the Basque Country, where it has been present for more than two decades of commercial activity through the stores or “Centers” of Lemoa, located in Barrio Zubieta, 12 and opened in 2002, and the “Center” of Oiartzun in Donosti, also opened in the same year. Now with this “City”, the company is taking another step forward in its commitment to its Basque customers, collaborators and partners, as this showroom will not only serve professionals from Bilbao, but will also be open and available to customers and professionals from all over the Basque Country.

Likewise, on a global level, Bilbao demonstrates the continuity of Cosentino’s strategic commitment to the expansion of this pioneering experiential showroom model. Last year alone, the company opened up to 9 new “Citys” or showrooms around the world. In 2024, and after the opening of the “City” in Melbourne (Australia) at the end of January, Cosentino plans to maintain a similar pace of openings in cities such as Oporto, Manchester, Mexico City and Munich, among others, internationally. In Spain, after Bilbao, new openings are planned for Almeria and Alicante this year.

With Bilbao, Cosentino currently has 32 facilities of this type located in the cities of Sydney, Singapore, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal, Milan, London, Madrid, Dubai, Miami, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Amsterdam, Chicago, Mallorca, Atlanta, Paris, Stockholm, Tokyo, Malaga, Washington D.C., Boston, Seattle, Vancouver, Antwerp, Istanbul, Lisbon, Sao Paulo, Melbourne and Bilbao.
