The Almeria Provincial Council continues to work to improve the safety of every kilometre of the Provincial Road Network. For this reason, the Provincial Institution has put out to tender the improvement of the AL-7103 road linking the municipality of Cantoria and La Cinta, in Arboleas. The works to improve safety on two bridges on the AL-6403 as it passes through Serón have also been awarded.
Antonio J. Rodríguez, the deputy for Public Works, said that these actions will have an impact on traffic, increasing safety at these points and improving these roads. “These are two actions which will improve the roads in the province. In this case on the road connecting Cantoria and Arboleas and on two bridges in Serón. These actions join others we are carrying out in other parts of the province and others already completed to ensure optimal conditions and improve safety throughout the Provincial Road Network”.
Specifically, the rehabilitation of the road surface on the AL-7103, from the AL-7102 in Cantoria to La Cinta de Arboleas, which has a budget of 150,000 euros, will involve the reinforcement and regularisation of the road surface, surface drainage, signage, beacons and defences. The rehabilitation of the road surface includes the reinforcement of a two-kilometre-long section of the road between kilometre points 4+000 to 6+000, with an average width of 5 metres.
Likewise, for surface drainage, ditches will be re-profiled, kerbing will be installed for channelling and the fascia will be raised at one point of the road. In addition, signalling, beaconing and defence works will be carried out.
Contract awarded for the improvement of two bridges
On the other hand, the Diputación de Almería has awarded the contract for the improvement of two of the bridges on the AL-6403 as it passes through the municipality of Serón. The works will consist of the refurbishment and rehabilitation of a stone bridge over the Bolanor ravine and the replacement of the barriers on the bridge over the Almanzora River. This action, framed within the Road Plan, will involve an investment of 360,000 € financed 100% with funds from the Provincial Council of Almeria, as explained by the deputy of Development.
The first of the bridges is made of masonry with three twin arches and a total length of 30 metres between parapet ends. The useful width of the bridge is only 5 metres and the constructed width is 6 metres. The second of the bridges is located over the Almanzora River and has a total length of 125 metres and a width of 9 metres. The aim is to improve these bridges as a whole and to make them safer for pedestrians and users.
