Provincial Council promotes sports and investments in the 103 municipalities

The last Plenary Session of the Provincial Council of Almería has been characterized by the consensus and unanimity shown in the points on the agenda that have been validated without votes against. In this sense, the Provincial Corporation has approved, among other measures, actions aimed at promoting sports throughout the province and to promote new services and infrastructure in the investment plans for the period 2024 – 2027 in four municipalities of the province. .

In this second point, the amount allocated to the provincial investment plans for the current four-year period that includes the years between 2024 and 2027 has been increased by almost 800,000 euros. In this way, this budget update and expansion will have a positive impact on the municipalities of Chercos, Fondón, Lúcar and Adra will have more resources to carry out works to improve and modernize public spaces and services for the benefit of citizens.

Along these lines, the vice president of the Provincial Council and spokesperson for the Government team, Fernando Giménez, has valued provincial investments as “a great tool that the town councils of the province have, especially the smaller ones, to improve public areas, services and infrastructure that, otherwise and without the support of their Provincial Council, would be very difficult to carry out.”

Another of the measures approved in today’s plenary session consisted of financial assistance aimed at defraying the transportation costs incurred by thirty town councils in the province with less than 10,000 inhabitants to facilitate the attendance and participation of school-age students at the project of the Educational Leagues for Sports Promotion of the Provincial Sports Games.

Precisely this great sporting event, whose main objective is to promote the positive values ​​and healthy living habits that physical and sporting activity entails in the people who practice it, recently saw the closing of the season of the XXXIII edition of the Educational Leagues of Sports Promotion of the Provincial Sports Games project this month of May.

This year, this informative competition had five months of competition and more than 200 teams from 73 municipalities participated with more than 3,200 participants between the ages of 6 and 17. Sports modalities such as multisport, volleyball, basketball and indoor soccer have been played on different provincial days that have been experienced as a great party. 46 days have taken place with 137 venues.

Along these lines, the vice president and deputy of Sports, Healthy Living and Youth, José Antonio García, has stated that “this project has meant recognition of the support shown by the families of these young athletes and the dedication and daily work of technicians-coaches. , municipal coordinators, referees and institutional officials who, throughout this season, have contributed to transmitting the essential values ​​of sport at school age. They have proven to be an example of commitment to the values ​​that sport should reign and teach. Consistency, improvement, social responsibility, respect and camaraderie.”

The closing of the XXXIII Educational Leagues was held last weekend at the Moisés Ruiz Pavilion and concluded with the presentation of recognition to the teams of excellence in Fair Play and classification by results by categories in the modalities held and the traditional family photo .

New provincial deputy

In the plenary session held this Thursday, the councilor of Olula del Río, Diego Castaño, took office as the new provincial deputy, replacing the former deputy Loli Cruz, who said goodbye in the previous plenary session, in the Socialist Group of the Provincial Institution. The spokespersons of all the political groups and the president of the Provincial Council have congratulated him and wished him luck in this new stage.

The Provincial Corporation has unanimously approved a motion in favor of the creation of an assistance plan for the installation of defibrillators in public buildings in the municipalities of Almería. The approved document contemplates the creation of this plan to create a network of defibrillators so that, at a minimum, there is one in all municipalities. Likewise, awareness and training campaigns will be carried out for the general population and, especially, for municipal professionals so that they know how to use them in case of emergency.
