Agricultural burning and fires in rural environments have been prohibited since June 1

The Order of the Ministry of the Environment of the Government of Andalusia by which it is prohibited to light any type of fire (including barbecues) in the countryside came into force this past Saturday, June 1 and lasts until next October 15, as it is of a time of high risk of forest fires in Andalusia.

The Order of May 21, 2009, totally prohibits the use of fire, such as bonfires, barbecues, agricultural and forestry burning, among others, and the circulation of motor vehicles in the forest areas of the Autonomous Community during that period, with the in order to prevent any negligence from causing a forest fire during this time.

The prohibition affects the burning of natural vegetation and agricultural and forestry waste, as well as the use of fire for the preparation of food, which cannot be carried out in camping areas or recreational areas that are equipped for this purpose. Likewise, the circulation of motor vehicles outside the road network is also prohibited.

It must be remembered that 95% of forest fires are due to human action, carelessness or confusion, recklessness, lack of attention, irresponsibility or arsonist behavior.

The ban affects both agricultural burning and vegetable remains and the preparation of food on barbecues, even in recreational areas.
