Albox celebrates San Antonio Festival and Noche en Blanco during this weekend

June arrives, and with it, the municipality of Albox celebrates two of its classic events; the San Antonio Festival and the White Night. Throughout the weekend, residents of the Almanzora region will be able to enjoy the festivities of the town’s oldest neighborhood, and at the same time, make purchases in the numerous establishments, with great discounts and surprises.

This Thursday, Saint Anthony’s Day, the people of Albojens have already celebrated the Holy Mass with the blessing of bread. After the first of the events in honor of Saint Anthony, the lighting was inaugurated and Children’s Day celebrated with attractions at a reduced price.

Today, Friday, the festivities will resume at nine at night with the Zumba exhibition and the coronation of the Queen of the festivities. Traditional chorizada and then the festival with the ‘Trío Alboria’ and ‘Benji’.

On Saturday night there will be a party again from ten thirty at night with the ‘Trío Alboria’ and ‘Por un handful of thirds’.

On Sunday, the San Antonio festivities will continue with the midday fair and free paella offered by the Albox City Council for all attendees. One of the great moments of the festivities of the also known as “Barrio Alto”, will be the Holy Mass at seven thirty in the afternoon, and the Procession through the Barrio de San Antonio. All the neighbors will take to the streets and accompany the saint through the streets of this old neighborhood, where the municipality of Albox was born.

“The San Antonio festivities are one of the most deeply rooted in our town. Here is the origin of Albox and also with the Barrio Alto festivals comes summer. This weekend we will enjoy some very traditional festivities, I invite everyone to join us over the next few days,” says the mayor of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso.

In parallel, on Friday and Saturday, the Association of Entrepreneurs and Merchants of Albox – AEPA Valle del Almanzora organizes, with the collaboration of the City Council, the White Night. Two days that invite residents from all over the Almanzora Valley to get to know the local commerce of Albojense and benefit from the great discounts and promotions that they will find inside.

So there will be activities such as the ‘Aires de Veleta’ concert on Friday from 8:30 p.m. or on Saturday morning, a crafts workshop and in the afternoon, a balloon twisting workshop, for the little ones in the house.
