The City Council undertakes improvements at the Virgen del Saliente School in Albox

Just a few days after the official end of the school year, Albox City Council has begun improvement work at the Virgen del Saliente School. As happened last summer with the Velázquez School, on this occasion the Virgen del Saliente Primary School will host most of the work to refurbish and tune up its facilities during the summer months.

It has been the school management itself, together with the City Council’s works department, who have defined in recent weeks what the needs of the school are. The area where the work is going to take place mainly affects the 3 and 4 year old children, as well as the trees, leaks in the assembly hall and paint on the entire exterior and perimeter of the school.

The work has started in the playground for the youngest children, where the floor has been raised because it will be replaced, in compliance with regulations, by artificial grass. In addition, a direct evacuation door will be installed from the main building to the playground. And at the request of the parents, all the tree pits that border the school trees and that pose a danger to the children will be removed. “We have started to work on the improvements to the school as soon as it has been vacated, and during the summer months we are going to carry out all the improvements that have been requested of us. Our intention is to do everything possible, so that when the new school year begins, the school is in perfect condition to receive the children” explains the councillor for works, Esteban Carrión.

Once the work in the children’s area is finished, they will move to the Assembly Hall and the school’s warehouses where there are leaks and dampness that will be eliminated. In addition, the pruning of all the trees and the painting of the school’s exterior area are planned.

“We take advantage of the summer to carry out the most important works in our schools, but throughout the year we are in contact with our educational centres to act in case of any need. This summer it was the turn of the Colegio Virgen del Saliente and last year the bulk of the works were at the CEIP Velázquez. We do it with our own funds and with municipal workers, so that in September our children will find everything ready” concludes the mayor, María del Mar Alfonso, about the works that will be finished before September.
