Amphibious chairs for bathers with reduced mobility

The Provincial Council of Almería is improving services for all residents of Almería, while breaking down barriers so that people with reduced mobility can enjoy the beach and the summer. Thus, the Provincial Council has acquired amphibious chairs to promote accessibility for bathers in the province.

The Provincial Institution, through the Department of Social Welfare and the improvements to the contract for the Home Help Service for municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants of the Provincial Council of Almería with the company Atende, has acquired a total of 18 amphibious chairs for the 8 municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants with coastline.

Specifically, the municipalities that will receive these amphibious chairs are Balanegra, Carboneras, Mojacar, Garrucha, Vera, Pulpí and Cuevas de Almanzora. In addition, this Thursday it was presented on the beach of Garrucha, where three amphibious chairs were delivered to the municipality.

The event was attended by the Vice President and Deputy for Social Welfare, Ángel Escobar; the Mayor of Garrucha, Pedro Zamora; and the Manager of Clece Almería, Diego López; who have been accompanying the users of Garrucha in this important event.

The Vice President and Deputy for Social Welfare has expressed his pride in being in Garrucha for this reason and has stressed that this is a very important event since “one of the fundamental pillars of the Provincial Council of Almería is to improve the quality of life of each and every one of the people of Almería. We have made available to 8 coastal municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants a total of 18 top-quality amphibious chairs so that everyone can enjoy our wonderful coast.”

The Clece manager has thanked the Provincial Council of Almería, the vice president and the mayor. In addition, López has pointed out that these actions are about “rising to the occasion and helping our dependents with these donations of chairs. Public-private collaboration helps people and once again this is evident.”

Finally, the Mayor of Garrucha also expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Council and to Atende for the “donation of these chairs so that our elderly can enjoy their swim. For Garrucha this donation is very important because with it we have an accessible beach and our elderly can enjoy the swim they deserve.”
