Albox celebrates the 24 Hours of Indoor Football

The Las Ventas Sports Pavilion will begin hosting the qualifying matches of all the children’s categories participating in the ‘Juan González Memorial’ 24 Hours of Indoor Football on Monday. Given the large number of participating teams, more than 450 athletes in all categories, the youngest players will begin the competition today, Monday, and will continue until Thursday in the qualifying phase, in order to compete in the finals at the weekend in the stands installed in the heart of the La Loma neighbourhood.

This is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the year for the people of Albox. A sports festival that last year returned to Plaza de San Francisco and where the City Council will install large stands to accommodate hundreds of residents throughout the weekend.

Fourteen senior teams and more than three hundred boys and girls in lower divisions will compete in the 24 hours of Futsal in Albox, one of the longest-running sporting events in the town.

The most exciting moments will take place next Saturday, July 20th in Plaza San Francisco with the finals of all categories. The time slot will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Women’s Cadet Final is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. and then, at 11:00 p.m., the Men’s Senior Final.

The start of the senior category is scheduled for Friday, July 19, at 9 pm in the Plaza de San Francisco. The group stage and quarter-finals will be played consecutively until the early hours of the morning. As for the semi-finals, they will be played on Saturday at 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm and the Grand Final from eleven at night.

Among the schedules planned for the coming days, it is worth highlighting that on Thursday, July 18, the draw for the calendar, groups and schedules for the Senior category is scheduled to take place at the Las Ventas Sports Pavilion at 8 p.m.

The tournament has increased its prize money in this edition with medals and trophies for everyone. 1,500 euros for the winner, 600 for the runner-up and 150 euros for the semi-finalists. In addition, there will be a Trophy for the Best Goalkeeper Miguel Jiménez and a Trophy for the Best Player Diego Capel. All with the aim of continuing to promote this sporting event that in recent years had lost prominence. “The 24 hours of Futsal in Albox has always been a great party, an event for all lovers of this sport and at the same time it allows us to liven up the life of our town. We help the shops and hospitality industry in the La Loma neighbourhood that welcomes this competition with great enthusiasm” explains the mayor of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso.

The City Council is already finishing the stands and chairs that will be installed next to the Plaza de San Francisco so that those attending can comfortably enjoy all the matches during the weekend. A competition that will once again pay tribute to Juan González. His own son is expected to attend on Saturday and his granddaughter is competing this week in the preliminary phase of lower categories.

The Villa de Albox Sports Club will run the bar and after the competition there will be a concert of covers to end the party.
