Albox City Council continues to work during the summer to improve the districts of the municipality. Most of these actions are highly demanded by the residents and have been awaited for years. This week, the Mayor of Albox, María del Mar Alfonso, visited, together with the Councillor for Works, Esteban Carrión, the works that are being carried out in the district of Locaiba.
During this month of July, work is being carried out in the Social Hall of this Albox district with a comprehensive work on the entire building. A space that the residents use daily and that had significant humidity. That is why municipal workers are installing a plinth, both inside and outside, which will reduce water filtration and at the same time, will serve to beautify a space that was in very poor condition.
The construction department has planned to improve the entire area around the building so that it can be used as a terrace. In addition, the building’s windows have been improved and the main door will be changed.
The work includes painting, both inside and out, and the lighting in the living room will be changed for the enjoyment of all residents.
“Our town has many hamlets where residents live who deserve the best services. In recent years, the maintenance and improvement work in the neighbourhoods has been practically non-existent, which is why we work hard all year round with our workers to reach all areas. We meet with the residents, they tell us their needs and we act according to the urgency. These days we are in Locaiba and El Madroño and we will continue like this until we reach everyone” explains the mayor, María del Mar Alfonso.
Over the last few weeks and in order to have it ready for the patron saint festivities held last weekend, the Albox Town Council has improved the Camino del Madroño, specifically the section that affects the intersection of the Las Pocicas ravine with El Madroño. An area damaged by the recent rains that the water had broken and presented a great danger to vehicles and pedestrians. That is why a new stone quarry has been made and it has been filled with concrete again to reconstruct the road.
In this neighbourhood, in El Madroño, a permanent line has been installed for public lighting that will allow the residents to have their own lighting for their festivals. The chapel and fountain that “was very dangerous” have also been repaired, as explained by the Councillor for Works, “a fence has been installed at the request of the residents themselves, all of which is ready for the celebration of their festivals that take place every July”, concludes the Councillor.
