The delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Francisco Bellido, has held a meeting with the mayor of Cantoria, Purificación Sánchez, in which he announced that this municipality has been the beneficiary of a provisional subsidy of 2.8 million euros to build a residence for the elderly in its town.
This investment is part of the line of subsidies, under a competitive system, of up to 134 million, charged to European funds, aimed at local entities and those dedicated to the dependency sector to build and renovate day centres and residential centres for the elderly and disabled. Of this total amount, 30 million euros will come to the province of Almería, which represents 22% of the total.
This was made clear by the delegate during his visit to the Cantoria Town Hall, where he informed the mayor that the project presented by the town is one of the 20 in the entire province that have a provisional resolution. Now the selected projects will have to provide the corresponding documentation.
The territorial delegate explained that “never in the history of Andalusia had a commitment of this kind been made”, with 134 million euros, to improve and reinforce the care network of day centres and residential centres. “The Andalusian Government is making an unprecedented effort for dependency” concluded the delegate.
Greater investment
This line of 134 million is the largest investment in the history of the Andalusian Government to improve and strengthen the care network of day and residential centres, which has almost 85,000 authorised places in total for elderly and disabled people. Furthermore, this measure is part of the actions promoted by the Andalusian Government to strengthen the public dependency system, which is the largest in the country and already exceeds 400,000 benefits and 286,000 beneficiaries.
