Tíjola receives a subsidy for the construction of a residence for the elderly

The Tíjola City Council, through a press release, announces the granting of a “significant subsidy for the construction of a residential centre for the elderly in the town”.

This ambitious project will have a total investment of three and a half million euros, of which 2,957,500 euros will be provided by the Junta de Andalucía and 542,500 euros by the Tíjola Town Hall. In relation to this important advance, the delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Junta de Andalucía, Francisco González Bellido, has visited the Tíjola Town Hall to express his support and commitment to the project. “Without a doubt, Tíjola is a social municipality that cares about its own and having obtained this grant for the construction of a new residence only confirms this spirit of the people of Tíjola. I have to congratulate its mayor and all its residents for this great news, as well as the 20 projects that have been provisional beneficiaries of this grant and that add up to a total of 40 million euros in our province that will go towards improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable.”

The new residence will be designed to accommodate 50 residents, distributed in 35 rooms, of which 15 will be doubles and 20 singles. This approach promotes a more personalized and comfortable environment for residents.

The design of the centre includes the creation of 5 Coexistence Units, each with a maximum of 10 users. These units are conceived as small and welcoming spaces, providing a familiar and accessible environment. Each unit will have bedrooms, a dining room, an office and a living room, and will have direct access to the outside, which will improve the quality of life of the residents by offering them easy and safe access to the outdoors.

This project was the first to be selected in the province of Almería and the fifth in all of Andalusia, highlighting the importance and relevance of this initiative for the region. Tíjola has established itself as a benchmark in dependency resources, offering specific training with the intermediate cycle of Care for People in Situations of Dependency. Currently, the municipality has a residential centre for people with disabilities with 30 users and another residential centre for the elderly with 68 places, as well as a day centre that was launched just a few months ago with 15 places. In total, Tíjola has more than 150 places, consolidating itself as a provincial and Andalusian benchmark in matters of dependency.

In addition to improving the infrastructure and social services of the town, this project will have a positive impact on local employment. It is estimated that more than 40 jobs will be created, thus contributing to the economic development of Tíjola.

The Mayor of Tíjola, José Juan Martínez Pérez, has expressed his satisfaction with the award of this grant: “This residence is a very important step for our community. It will not only offer a safe and comfortable home for our elderly, but it will also generate employment and strengthen our social fabric. We are very grateful to the Junta de Andalucía for its support and we are committed to carrying out this project with the utmost dedication and professionalism.”

Construction of the residence is expected to begin in the coming months.
