Yesterday, August 3, the Civil Guard of the Almería Command has recovered 23 mobile phones that had been stolen during the Juergas Rock festival, held in Adra (Almería) and located and arrested three people as alleged perpetrators of the thefts.
This rapid investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by the owner of one of the phones. This led to the rapid action of the Civil Guard personnel in charge of the investigation, who immediately began monitoring the signal from the device.
Civil Guard personnel in charge of the festival’s public safety device began to track the signal of the stolen mobile phone to a hotel restaurant in the town of Benizalón. Once there, the acting force carried out discreet surveillance that allowed them to identify three people as the alleged perpetrators, proceeding to inspect the establishment where they were staying. The agents located the reported phone, hidden and wrapped in aluminium foil (to avoid the emission of location signals) in the false ceiling of the bathroom, along with another twenty devices. Because some of the mobile phones were receiving calls from the owners, each call was attended to in order to tell them where they should go to recover it and file the relevant complaint.
As a result of this rapid action, the Civil Guard of the Almería Command recovered more than twenty mobile phones stolen during the Juergas Rock festival held in the town of Adra.
Due to the fact that various cultural events are taking place in the province, the Civil Guard of the Almería Command recommends that attendees of any mass event take extreme precautions regarding their personal belongings so that:
Do not display valuables.
It is recommended that you carry mobile phones, wallets, purses and other valuables in some type of backpack (waist pack or shoulder bag) on the front of your body.
Write down the SIM card numbers and serial numbers of your devices, and activate the location functions in case of loss or theft.
For other valuables, write down serial numbers, photograph and save purchase receipts.
If any of your belongings have already been stolen, go as soon as possible to the nearest Civil Guard Post or call 062.
